Private access, organised visits

Very few Chilean bodegas have adopted a real policy of how to welcome visitors yet: no road signs to indicate the bodegas, few documents showing the wine routes.

In fact, most of the visitors don't go to the bodegas on their own: most of them choose to follow a tour organised by a tourist agency or by the Ruta del Vino, who sell discovery days in the vineyards with a multilingual guide.

Most of the wine estates don't receive enough visitors to be able to have a specific person dedicated to tourist tours, and most of the time, visits are guided by somebody external to the bodega.

As an individual activity, the discovery of vineyards is considered a luxury for wealthy people. Paying visits can be very expensive, up to 30 US$ per person, and some of the bodegas offer side activities like golf and polo.
