In Chile, entry level wines are for the domestic markets, as premium cuvees are mostly exported.

 

Educating the local consumer is a long term investment, as most of the premium wines are still bought by a few wealthy people.

 



Apart from the tourist tours and the specific visits led by specialists on each estate, there aren't so many initiatives to educate the visitor in the bodegas.

At least, some wine shops have a very professional approach to the wine. In the El Mundo del Vino boutiques, a large range of national and international productions can be found, but also personalised advices given by professional consultants: grapes and wines, wine and food matching, readings and tasting lessons.
